Probationer Scheme
The Federation Group Insurance Probationer Scheme is unique to Merseyside and is available during your probationary period only, on completion of this period of employment your subscription will automatically be increased to the Full Member scheme. It is at this time that you may apply to include your Spouse under our optional spouse cover scheme.
The Scheme costs (2008) £10.30 per pay period
And offers
£30,000.00 death from any cause – insurer: Stirling Life
member and spouse/permanent partner, and dependent children under 21 in full time education, when travelling with the member or their spouse/permanent partner. Covers trips of up to 30 days duration. There is an excess of £50.00 per person claiming. All policy terms and conditions and exclusions etc are contained in the policy document.

This cover is only available to Serving Police Officers. The policy pays out if accidental bodily injury causes a member to suffer one of the conditions set out below. The sum insured is £25,000.00.
If the subscribing officer is medically cast from the Force within the first 2 years of their probationary period, a lump sum of £5,000.00 will be paid.
You will have been given the opportunity to join the scheme on recruitment, if you chose not to do so you can still join now (providing you are still within your probationary period) you will need to complete an Application Form and a Beneficiary Nomination Form and return them to The Federation Office as soon as possible.
